Here are some key events that led to the revolutions!
Buenos Aires found British ships in their dock.
The British took over Buenos Aires so they could take all of Buenos Aires' treasury.
After almost all of the treasury was shipped to England, the people of Buenos Aires made a militia.
After the militia defeated the English soliders twice, the people of Buenos Aires felt like they could rule themselves.
Napoleon Bonaparte conquered spain. While Jose de Martin was a general of the Spanish army, he helped fight for Spain.
Napoleon Bonaparte put his brother, Joseph, as king of Spain. Joseph replaced Buenos Aires' viceroy which they hated.
Moreno sent Joseph Bonaparte to exile.
San Martin turned against Spain so he could go back to his hometown of Buenos Aires to fight for independance.
San Martin tricked the Chileans that an attack was coming from the South, but he really came over the Andes.
San Martin attacked Chile in 1818 and won.
Martin defeated Lima but could not get to Northern Peru.
South Peru would not help fight against North Peru.
Jose de San Martin gave up helping the fight for independence.
